I was born in North London in 1970 and then brought up in leafy Camberley, surrounded by army and commuters - an eclectic mix but I spent a lot of my youth looking for something to calm my mind. I found this when I stumbled across a lost camera at the age of 8 in Devon, handing it into the police and then 6 months later being given it back as the owner was never identified.
I was so lucky to find a passion for images whilst at school doing ‘O’ level and ‘A’ Level photography. In the late 1980’s in Central London - a stones throw from Soho and the world of advertising and film, I completed a degree in photography. London then was so vibrant and changed every week, an amazing place for any visual person.
My journey has not been without its ups and downs, physically and mentally, with the unnerving anguish of always striving for better.
Please feel free to reach out to say hi....
With 30 years of experience as a creative director, photographer and lighting director working across multiple genres and industries, I have spent my career redefining how real people and human stories can be represented through creative imagery and content. Working globally for international brands as well as personal exhibitions, I have pushed boundaries around how disability and health are widely perceived. Unique use of movement and lighting produces stills photography that is able to “stretch” a moment in time, and my in-depth experience working with communities with a range of chronic health conditions and rare diseases have informed my ability to take an empathetic, genuine approach to portraying their stories.
Many of my production crew have worked with me for over 10 years, some more than 20, forming a team of highly skilled individuals.
There is no such thing as a typical shoot. Whether on film or digitally, I work hard to capture elements that may not be immediately visible, and challenge the status quo with thought-provoking and inspiring images.
