PORTRAITS OF BRITAIN'S PARALYMPIC ATHLETES

I have always loved sport and wanted to portray the energy and dynamism of elite athletes in a unique way. I worked with the GB Olympic and Paralympic teams for the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics. These projects required significant negotiation with the various sporting bodies and LOCOG to gain access to athletes and teams, and resulted in a range of exhibitions and an official book. These included the BT Art of Sport, which I ran with artist Jeremy Houghton to connect sporting and artistic audiences across the UK through live events featuring 12 artists.

My award winning book "Power and Movement" was shot over 9 months prior to London 2012 and featured 250 Paralympic athletes. I wanted to challenge traditional perceptions of disability, fitness and power to give an insight into the skill, poise and strength of Paralympians as they prepared for the challenge of competing. Published by John Wiley & Sons (Wiley).

My images were also used for the official GB team house at London 2012 and sold internationally.

David Weir CBE

DAVID WEIR IS ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL AND CELEBRATED PARA ATHLETES IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT HAVING MADE HIS DEBUT AT ATLANTA 1996.
HE HAS SINCE GONE ON TO WIN TEN PARALYMPIC MEDALS - INCLUDING SIX GOLDS.

Debbie Flood

DEBBIE WON GOLD IN THE QUADRUPLE SCULLS  AT THE 2006 AND 2010 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.

IN DECEMBER 2012 SHE WAS ELECTED CAPTAIN OF LEANDER CLUB, THE FIRST TIME A WOMAN HAD BEEN APPOINTED TO THIS ROLE IN ALMOST 200 YEARS.
